From post-lockdown to the present, a single trend has accompanied the new collections:the stile athleisure.
Casual wear has been overtaken by a phenomenon that has involved everyone, even the most skeptical, taking advantage of the wave of the comfort zone In which we basked in our homes.
Today, the emerging style in women’s clothing that satisfies somewhat all generations is the sporty glam :sporty, stylish, comfortable, performance, glamorous.
Superstar leggings, sporty sweaters in bright colors, revamped tech bags, windbreakers over longuette skirts, costumes as tops!
It is the triumph of freedom of style to feel natural but with a personal touch that allows for an original mix&match.
Cheerful, dynamic and comfortable but with panache, Athleisure is renewed and surpassed by continuing to reign supreme in the collections of Made in Italy brands.

However, when we go to mix, the result is not always what we want or reflects our personal style. Often the idea we have and that magazines, mannequins and runways suggest, does not have a happy realization!
So here is the bon ton Of Athleisure in 5 points.
1 – Oversize alarm
Always take into account your body shape. Sporty glam oversize is mostly found in technical jackets or pants. Sporty and comfortable is not always friendly with some body shapes. Control proportions, balance volumes and enhance strengths.
Oversize to be avoided for the following body shapes:
- Hourglass:unbalances the figure by making it awkward and taking away the beauty of balance typical of this body shape
- Oval:give preference to soft outfits with little volume that can structure shoulders and waist
- Reverse triangle:avoid oversized jackets and sweatshirts that expand and give volume to the upper part
2 – Color mix
Sporty glam offers bright color palettes to pair with more understated lines that play on simple, comfortable shapes. Finding the right color scheme to customize can be problematic.
In general keep in mind that:
- If you love a color but it does not enhance your undertone (skin-eyes-hair), best to wear it over a skirt, shorts, or pants
- Leave the bright colors for garments to be worn over if you are a triangle, under if you are an inverted triangle!
- Dare new combinations always taking into account your personal style and the values that represent it otherwise the result may not make you feel comfortable!
3 – Tacco o sneakers?
Green light to the heel as well, but in order to support a sporty glam outfit, it has to be a jaunty, funny shoe in line with the outfit you have created.
Ban platform pumps if from sporty glam you don’t want to go to the 80s Disco party effect…that you can reserve for a theme night!
4 – Gioielli&Co
A real dilemma! Rappers and trappers have created a very bold trend with chains and maxi watches. If sporty is to be glam and also a bit chic, a chain is fine but only if minimal and proportionate to your neck and height. For the rest, ban everything that is Maxi and that loads an outfit that is already full of input. Yes, because it’s true that it’s sporty but you have to work at it a bit to keep it comfortable and understated if stylish!
5 – Accessori-addicted
If a slight curb should be put on jewelry and bijoux, aim for:
- Scarves and chockers
- Cappelli
- Hair band
- Glasses
- Maxi borse
But what is the future of sporty glam that continues its rise?
The answer was given to me by the students of the Academy of Luxury of Rome with the creations presented last July 13 at the Piazza del Campidoglio during the Event Ensemble Fashion Night Academies .
An evocative setting, an event supported by Roma Capitale, the Lazio Region and the Chamber of Commerce of Rome, in which the final works of some of the students of four Roman Academies, in addition to the Accademia del Lusso:Koefia, Accademia Italiana and MAM, paraded.
And while the statute of the new AltaRoma Foundation is being worked on, fashion is moving forward and the Academies are bringing the luster of Made in Italy and all the work being done where talent is being born.
From the Academy of Luxury, the suggestion is that of a sporty chic sustainable where technology goes hand in hand with environmentally friendly recycling and upcycling and the recovery of certified deadstock fabrics.
The cuts are soft but defined and are expressed in the primary colors of blue, yellow and red mixed with total black, with all the energy of a sporty garment and the glamour of an outfit that aims for elegance even with recycled denim.
It is not an obvious or contemporary elegance, it is a sporty futuristico that alternates between over wearing and defining bodies with cut outs, crossovers and cyber style shoulder pads.
They are the new superheroes, the ones who don’t care about trends but create new ones!
